Sample briefing: testing an AI agent before deployment

Sample issue, 6 September 2026. This sample links to published articles and shows what a weekly email looks like.

1. Compare what agent benchmarks actually measure

Messier brings agent evaluation results together across benchmarks. Before using a leaderboard to choose an agent, inspect the tasks, scoring and verification behind the number. Different evaluation designs can answer different questions.

2. Check what your memory system retrieves

IFCMemoryBench examines missing project facts. A useful practical question is whether the system can recover the specific information a task requires, not simply produce a plausible response.

3. Test authorisation throughout a task

MasDrift examines authorisation drift. Include a test where the allowed scope changes during execution, and inspect whether the next action respects the new boundary.

One practical check

Choose one representative task. Record its success condition, allowed tools, budget and stop rule before running it. Then add an unavailable tool and a request outside the permitted scope. Compare the resulting traces with the original success condition.

This is a starting exercise, not evidence that a system is production-ready. Your workload, consequences of failure and deployment environment determine the remaining tests.
